Images and Words, Dream Theater's second album, is heralded as one of the best albums in Dream Theater's discography along with the rest of the genre. It set precedents for progressive metal yet to come with its dynamic lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals. It was the first album for Dream Theater with singer James Labrie, who remains the singer to this day.
"Pull Me Under" received some airplay on radio stations and MTV, and to this day remains the band's biggest hit.
