The Imperial Sand Dunes is a dune field in southern California popular with off-road enthusiasts. Located 27 miles east of Brawley, CA the site, (sometimes referred to as the Glamis Dunes) is managed by the Bureau of Land Management [1] (http://www.ca.blm.gov/elcentro/ImperialSandDunes/).
The desert site contains large sand dunes which are a preferred terrain for many motorcross, sandrail, ATV, and 4 wheel drive owners. Camping is permitted and on major winter holidays a substantial population of visitors can appear.
