Infineon - Definition and Overview

Infineon Technologies is a German manufacturer of integrated circuits and related products. It was formed from the semiconductor division of Siemens AG in 1999, and went public in 2000. Its headquarters are in Munich, Germany, with major production and R&D sites around the world. In fiscal year 2003, the company achieved sales of Euro 6.15 billion.

Infineon was investigated by the United States Department of Justice - Antitrust Division and charged with price fixing of DRAM between July 1, 1999 and June 15, 2002 along with other unnamed companies. Infineon plead guilty to one charge and payed a fine of $160 million.
