The Inkatha Freedom Party is a political party in South Africa. As of 2003, it is led by Mangosuthu Buthelezi. It was founded in 1975 by Buthelezi, using a structure rooted in Inkatha, a 1920s cultural organization for Zulus. The party was established in what is now KwaZulu-Natal, and although it still gets most of its support from Zulus, membership is open to persons of any ethnic or racial group.
