Irish Brigade (French) - Definition and Overview

Irish Brigade was formed from the Irish soldiers who embarked for France following the Williamite war in Ireland with the Jacobites, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty of Limerick in 1691. The eveacuation has entered history as the flight of the Wild Geese.

For the next hundred years, until the French Revolution, many of the Wild Geese and their descendants served France in the Irish Brigade.
