Isla Nublar is a fictional island on which dinosaurs were held in the novels Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton, the film adaptations of both books, and the film sequel Jurassic Park III. It is located in the Pacific Ocean, a hundred miles off the shores of Costa Rica. It is described in the books as being tear drop shaped, thicker at the north than at the south. It is also described as perpetually foggy, and has a tropical climate.
The word nublar in Spanish means "to become cloudy".
