Ito Noe - Definition and Overview

Ito Noe (伊藤 野枝 Itō Noe, 21 January,1895 - 16 September,1923 in Imajuku, Fukuoka, Japan) was a Japanese anarchist and a social critic, author and feminist.

She graduated from Ueno Girl's High School in Ueno, Tokyo, and joined the Seito-sha (a feminist magazine Seito society - The Bluestocking society, Japan) in 1912, and wrote social critics and novels, and translated writing of Emma Goldman (Emma Goldman, The Tragedy of Woman's Emancipation, New York, Mother Earth Publishing Association, 1906, etc.).

She lived and worked with Osugi Sakae from 1916. She was arrested, along with a nephew and Osugi Sakae, after the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. She and her nephew were abducted and killed along with him by lieutenant Amakasu Masahiko troops of military police in 1923 (Amakasu Incident).
