Ivan Ramiro Córdoba (born August 11, 1976 in Medellín) is a Colombian international football player. He made his name playing for San Lorenzo in Argentina but signed for Italian side Inter Milan in the winter of 2000, rejecting the renowned Real Madrid in doing so.
Naturally a central defender and world rated man-marker, he is incredibly athletic and relies mostly on his pace and reliable timing, being only 173cm tall and thus vulnerable in the air. Cordoba is also a versatile defender. He sometimes plays as right back and has even filled the left back position.
Cordoba is a proven defender, making twenty matches in his first season, impressive when you consider he only joined the club in the winter break of the season. Although referees still don't give him the same amount of support than the likes of Alessandro Nesta and Walter Samuel.
He captained the Colombia national football team to win the Copa América competition, scoring the only goal in the final. Ivan now plays in Inter Milan side along side Marco Materazzi as the backbone of defence.
