Iwaki, Fukushima - Definition and Overview

Iwaki (いわき市; -shi) is a city located in Fukushima, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 357,681 and the density of 290.53 persons per km². The total area is 1,231.13 km².

The city was founded on October 1, 1966, after Taira, three other towns, and five villages were combined into the city of Iwaki.
