JOnAS - Definition and Overview

JOnAS is an open-source J2EE application server, developed and hosted by the ObjectWeb consortium (ObjectWeb is a not-for-profit European consortium, founded by INRIA - the french public research center in conputer science and control, Groupe Bull, and France Telecom). JOnAS is released under the LGPL open-source license.

JOnAS is J2EE 1.4 certified, as of February 1st, 2005. It has been the 1st open-source server certified for free, using a process known as "J2EE scolarship" and established by Sun for non-profit organizations. The next on the list is Apache Geronimo.
