The Jaguar C-type is an extremely rare and specialized racing model built and sold from 1951 to 1953. A total of 54 are thought to have been built. The cars uses some components from the Jaguar XK-120 (e.g. engine, transmission and rear-end) but the engine was highly tuned, delivering an output of over 200bhp compared with the 160-180bhp of the production-version. The custom, tubular chassis and aluminum body-panels, along with the elimination of all creature-comforts, helped the car to shed nearly 1000lbs compared to a comparable Jaguar road-car.

When new, the car sold for approximately $6,000 - approximately twice the price of an XK-120. In the unlikely event that a C-type Jaguar was offered for sale on the open market today, it would be likely to fetch several hundred thousand dollars and possible more than a million depending on the racing history of the individual car.
