James Manning - Definition

James Manning (October 22, 1738July 29, 1791) was an American Baptist minister and educator from Providence, Rhode Island. He was one of the founders of the College of Rhode Island (now Brown University) and served as its first presifent from 1765 to 1791. He was also a delegate for Rhode Island to the Continental Congress in 1786.
