James of St George - Definition and Overview

James of St George (circa 1230 - 1309) was an architect from Savoy responsible for designing many of Edward I's castles, including Conwy Castle (begun 1283), Harlech Castle (begun 1283) and Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey (begun 1295).
