Jan Matejko, also Jan Mateyko (b. June 24, 1838 in Kraków — November 1, 1893 in Kraków, Poland) was a prominent Polish painter. He is well known for his historical and military works like Battle of Grunwald, as well as for the gallery of Polish kings. He is also known for his portrayals of the famous court jester Stanczyk.
