Jeremy Mansfield is a South African radio host, television presenter, comedian and part-time member of a boy-band Eastlife. He is currently (2004) the morning show host of the Johannesburg-based radio station Highveld Stereo 94.7. He is also the presenter of a popular television quiz show, A Word or 2, which is in its 9th season (2004).
Grahamstown-born Mansfield's broadcasting career started at Rhodes University in the same city, where he studied speech, journalism and drama. In 1985, while still a student, he started working for the Durban-based radio station Capital Radio 604. During the same year, he was awarded the AA Vita Award for the most promising young South African actor. In 1990, Mansfield left Capital Radio and started his own media liaison, communications and promotions company.
Moving to Johannesburg in 1992, he became a freelance presenter for the sports department of 702 Talk Radio. His popularity continued to grow and in 1993 he was appointed as the regular presenter of 702's Saturday afternoon magazine programme. Mansfield's breakthrough came when he took over the 702 afternoon show in 1995.
In 1997 he moved to Highveld Stereo where he started (and still presents) their top-rated weekday breakfast show, The rude awakening. He is also a features contributor and guest presenter on the M-Net television channel's Front Row magazine programme.
Mansfield has released two CDs - "The rude awakening" and "Beer-ya-ti-full"; he has also written a best selling book, "Vrot jokes" (Rotten jokes).
Mansfield has recently been diagnosed with Crohn's disease which forced him to change his lifestyle.
Mansfield was voted 53rd in the Top 100 Great South Africans (see List of South Africans) in 2004.
