 Jewel Staite as Kaylee Frye in FireflyJewel Belair Staite (born June 2, 1982 in White Rock, British Columbia) is a Canadian actor, best known for her role as Kaylee in the short-lived science fiction television series Firefly (2002).
Modelling as a child and acting since the young age of 6, Staite attended the Vancouver Film School and worked at the Vancouver Youth Theatre.
Other television work includes (1992), Flash Forward (1996), Space Cases (1996), (1997), Da Vinci's Inquest (1998), and Higher Ground (2000). She has also been a guest star on The X Files, Just Deal, Wonderfalls, and Dead Like Me.
Staite is due to reprise her role from Firefly in the Joss Whedon film Serenity (2005).
She has worked with the Dyslexia Foundation and several AIDS charities.
