- Jievaras, in Lithuanian mythology, was a sacrifice for the deity of yield. After cutting of grain women were leaving uncut grain tuft. Later they entwined grain plait. They were leaving some bread and salt under the plait and saying: “Davei manei, Žemele, duodame ir tau ([You] gave [for us], [Ground] (Mother of ground), and we [are giving] [for you (thou)]). People believed that ground will come vain.
- Sometimes Jievaras is the spirit grain. People are sacrificing for Jievaras after rye harvest. He is one of the Lithuanian household gods.
- Otherwise, Jievaras is world tree and life.
