Beyond some thirty albums as a bandleader, Hall has recorded with Bill Evans, Ron Carter, Paul Desmond, Jimmy Giuffre, Pat Metheny and Sonny Rollins, among others. He is known for his dark warm guitar tone and advanced harmony that balances his slower playing style compared to other faster jazz guitarists such as Pat Martino.
