Jim Shooter - Definition and Overview

Jim Shooter is a writer, editor, and publisher for various comic books.

Shooter began selling stories to DC Comics for their Legion of Super-Heroes title when he was only 13. He eventually became the controversial editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics from 1978 to 1987. After leaving Marvel he founded his own company Valiant which acquired the rights to a number of older Gold Key characters which they published as well as various Nintendo game related comics. After leaving Valiant he founded Defiant Comics. After Defiant Comics failed he founded Broadway Comics, which was related to the production company that made Saturday Night Live. After Broadway Videos abruptly pulled a plug on Broadway Comics, Jim Shooter announced his intention to found yet another comic book publisher, Daring Comics, but nothing came of it. Today, Jim Shooter is involved in a number of science-fiction-related projects.
