Joachim was a king of Judah in the Old Testament. The name means "Established by Yahweh". See Jehoiakim.
In the apocryphal Gospel of James, Joachim was the husband of Saint Anne and the father of the Virgin Mary. According to the Bible, her father's name was Heli.
