John Jones Ross - Definition and Overview

John Jones Ross (August 16, 1831 - May 4, 1901) was born in Quebec City, Canada. He was the son of a Scottish merchant, George McIntosh Ross, and his wife Sophie-Éloïse Gouin.

He served as Conservative Premier of the province of Quebec, and was later appointed to the Canadian Senate. He served as Speaker from 1891 to 1896.

Elections as party leader

He lost the 1886 election, but remained in power in a minority government until he resigned on January 25, 1887.
