John Purdue - Definition and Overview

John Purdue (born October 31, 1802 in Huntington County, Pennsylvania) was a famous industrialist based in Lafayette, Indiana and a major benefactor of Purdue University. John Purdue donated 150,000 USD to the Board of Trustees of the University. He died on September 12, 1876, coincedentally on the first day of classes at the university he helped found.
