John McKee Spratt, Jr. (born November 1 1942 in Charlotte, North Carolina) is a politician in the United States. He is a member of the United States Democratic Party, and is a member of the United States House of Representatives for the fifth district of South Carolina since 1983.
During the 1960s, Spratt attended a variety of colleges, including Oxford University in 1966. He served in the army from 1969 until 1971, when he settled in South Carolina and became a lawyer, banker, business owner and Democratic Party convention delegate. He had been active in Democratic politics as early as 1964, when he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention that year. Spratt was first elected to the House of Representatives, the lower house of the United States Congress, in 1982, and he has been re-elected every two years since then. He ran for an eleventh term in the elections of 2004, against Republican opponent candidate, Albert Spencer and won.
