John Wall, Martyr and Saint (1620-1679)

He was born in Lancashire and entered a Roman Catholic College in Douai. He was made a priest in 1645 four years after entering. He remained Master of the Novices until 1656 when he moved to Worcestershire. Here he became a Governor (Six Master) of the Royal Grammar School Worcester. In 1678 he was apprehended and sent to Worcester gaol. His trial was on 25th April. After being to London he was brough back to Worcester and executed for being a priest and exercising it. His Saint Day is on 22nd August.
