John de Lancie (born March 20, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is a character actor best known for his role as recurring guest star Q on the various Star Trek series. He also co-wrote the book "I, Q" with Peter David.

De Lancie also had a recurring role as NID Colonel Frank Simmons on Stargate SG-1.

Prior to his role on Star Trek, de Lancie was a cast member of the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives.

De Lancie has a son, Keegan de Lancie, who is also pursuing an acting career and appeared with his father as Q's son in one of the Q episodes.

De Lancie makes frequent appearances to the Pasadena Symphony, which holds orchestrated music in the Fall and the Spring. As of Spring 2004, he is giving pre-concert lectures where the symphony is held in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

John de Lancie's father, of the same name, was principal oboist of the Philadelphia orchestra for many years. He died in 2001.
