John Lester Nash Jr. was born August 19, 1940 in Houston, Texas, USA.

Nash began as a pop singer in the 1950s. He became famous for singing the theme song for "The Mighty Hercules" cartoon. His biggest hit was "I Can See Clearly Now" in 1972. He was an early supporter of then unknown reggae star Bob Marley and recorded his "Stir It Up."

He was last active as a composer in the Swedish romance Vill så gärna tro 1971 in which he portrayed Robert.
