The Jolly Rancher Company was founded in 1949 in Golden, Colorado. The first products were chocolate and ice cream, both sold at the Jolly Rancher. Because of its increasing popularity, Jolly Rancher moved to Wheat Ridge, Colorado, in 1951. In 1966, it was sold to Beatrice Food Company. In 1983, Huhtamaki Oy bought Jolly Rancher, and sold it to Hershey's Chocolate Company in 1996. Jolly Ranchers are now hard candies.
