Jon Lovitz - Definition and Overview

Jon Lovitz (born July 21, 1957) is a comedic actor who has been in many roles on television and in movies, usually as a supporting character. He was a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1990. He has supplied voice-over talent in several animated series (most notably The Simpsons) and movies, once voicing the lead character of Jay Sherman in The Critic.

Lovitz is also known for his friendship with the late Phil Hartman, whom he ended up succeeding on the series NewsRadio after Hartman was killed.

Lovitz was publicly humiliated at an awards ceremony in the 1990s, where for no apparent reason he groped his co-presenter Jamie Lee Curtis and received a punch from her for his troubles.

His movie credits include Mr. Destiny with Jim Belushi and Courteney Coxand the ensemble comedy "Rat Race".
