Jordi Savall (born 1941, Igualada) is a famous Catalan viol player and is responsible for bringing the viola da gamba back from obscurity. He has made more than 80 recordings.
Savall is conductor of a touring and recording Early Music ensemble known as Hespèrion XXI. He is also a two-time Grammy nominee, who scored the 1991 Alain Corneau film, Tout les Matins du Monde. The soundtrack on the Alia Vox label has sold more than a million copies worldwide.
