Joseph Meister is known for his services with Louis Pasteur.
The 64-year-old Meister, the same Meister made famous at age nine when Pasteur saved his life with the worlds first rabies vaccine, served as caretaker of the Pasteur Institute. When Meister was unable to prevent the Nazis from entering Pasteurs crypt, he went home, took out his World War I service revolver and shot himself.
