Judas - Definition

Judas (יהודה "Praise", Standard Hebrew Yəhuda, Tiberian Hebrew Yəhûḏāh) is the name of several men in late Jewish and New Testament history:

• Judas Iscariot, betrayer of Jesus
• Judas Maccabaeus, Jewish revolt leader
• Judas the Zealot, alternate name of Simon the Canaanite
• Judas of Galilee, Jewish revolt leader

Judas is also a common derogatory nickname for those, who after reaching some kind of prominence in an institution, change to rival/opposite sides for financial reasons (this happens specially in sports).
