Jujuy - Definition and Overview

Jujuy is a province of Argentina, located in the extreme northwest of the country, at the borders with Chile and Bolivia. The capital is San Salvador de Jujuy, often shortened as Jujuy. The province had a population of 611,888 in 2001, and covers an area of 53,219 km². The only neighboring province is Salta to the east and south.

The province is divided into 16 departmets (in the Spanish language, departamentos).
