Juliana Tainer is a character in the fictional Star Trek universe, played by Fionnula Flanagan. She is the "mother" of Data in the series Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Juliana Tainer is the widow of Noonien Soong, Data's creator, which she says, makes her Data's mother. She lived in the same residence as Dr. Soong and Data when Data was newly activated on Omicron Theta, yet Data had no memory of her at that time. When her physical body died, Dr. Soong constructed an android of equal physical appearance and transferred the contents of Juliana's brain into the positronic matrix of the android. Juliana had no idea she was in an android body when she met Data again on stardate 47xxx, by which time Data served aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D). Data realized this, but chose not to tell her.
She appears in the Star Trek the Next Generation episode "Inheritance".
