June - Definition and Overview

June is the sixth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of four with the length of 30 days. June is named for the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter.

June starts in Gemini and ends in Cancer.

In the wheel of the year the June spans the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere it has a corresponding position with respect to the summer solstice. These solstices coincide on or about June 21.
