KLCS - Definition and Overview

KLCS Channel 58 is an affilliate of the Public Broadcasting Service, and is owned by the Los Angeles Unified School District. This station began operations on November 3, 1973. It is one of eight television stations licensed to a local school system. The station produces more than 700 hours of educational, informational, sports and entertainment programming yearly, including live telecourse instruction from the California State University system.

KLCS is known on the air as The Educational Station for all Generations. KLCS is based in downtown Los Angeles.
