KTVK - Definition and Overview

KTVK is an independent television station in Phoenix, Arizona. Its transmitter is located on South Mountain in Phoenix. It can be seen on Channel 3 in Phoenix and can be viewed in Northern Arizona, albeit on different channels due to different transmitter locations.

The station was an ABC affiliate for many years until the mid 90's, when a massive shift in network affiliations occurred in the market. The ABC affiliation went to KNXV channel 15, and KTVK has been an independent station since then. Despite losing its status as a network affiliate, the station's newscasts still receive decent ratings.

It also controls KASW (WB Affiliate, Channel 61) and two local cable networks: ¡Más! Arizona (Spanish news broadcast) and Arizona News Channel (English News Broadcast)
