The Kanto plain is the relatively flat region of Japan where Tokyo is located. "It is the largest plain in Japan and was, when it was fully developed in the Edo period, the richest agricultural area. During the Edo period when agriculture was the strongest part of the economy, this gave the rulers of the Kanto Plain far more wealth and power than any other feudal lords."
