Kathleen Brennan is an experimental Water media artist residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has studied with many noted artists and has received numerous awards in juried competitions, including the prestigious High Winds Medal in the American Watercolor Society's 132nd Annual International Exhibition in 1999. Kathleen is represented by the Dunn Mehler gallery in Half Moon Bay, Ca., which features contemporary art and sculpture. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society.

Kathleen's style is called "Intuitive Layering and Collage." Her paintings are mixed media, including acrylics, watercolor, and collage elements. She paints to explore the interaction of color and texture on paper, and the emotional response the process brings to herself and the viewer. She lets the paints and the paper speak to her as she paints, stating "Dash painting is a journey, leading us to an understanding of ourselves."

She is married to Tom Waits, with whom she has collaborated musically (see Night On Earth.)
