Kathleen Hanna is a American musician. She is the lead singer of Le Tigre (Mr. Lady Records) and former lead singer of Bikini Kill (early 1990s). In between these two major bands which she had a solo project as Julie Ruin.
She inspired the name of Nirvana's hit song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by writing "Kurt smells like teen spirit" on one of Kurt Cobain's walls. Teen Spirit is a kind of deodorant.
Recently, she was featured as a guest vocalist on "Letterbomb," a track by Green Day on their album "American Idiot."
