Keir Dullea (born May 30, 1936) is an actor best remembered for his role as astronaut David Bowman in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was raised in the Greenwich Village section of New York City where his parents ran a bookstore. His film debut came in 1961 in The Hoodlum Priest, in which he played a juvenile delinquent. He played an emotionally disturbed youth in a number of films, including David and Lisa (1962) and Bunny Lake is Missing (1965). He has yet to match the film success of 2001.
Dullea has had a long and successful career on stage in New York City and in regional theaters.
