Dr. David West Keirsey is a clinical psychologist and author of several books, the best-known of which is Please Understand Me, co-written with Marilyn Bates, in which he describes a system of personality classification known as the Keirsey Temperament Sorter. The book, published in 1978, sold nearly 2 million copies in its first 20 years.
