Keith Levene - Definition and Overview

Keith Levine is a British guitarist and songwriter, probably best known as a member of Public Image Limited.

Levine was an early member of The Clash and the one-shot Flowers of Romance (most notable for also featuring a pre-Sex Pistols Sid Vicious). Though he never recorded with the Clash , he co-wrote "What's My Name", featured on their first album. Levine would later claim he had written or co-written several other songs on the same record.

After the Sex Pistols disintigrated, Levine co-founded Public Image Limited. His guitar work was much imitated by several early punk rockers and others, including The Edge of U2. On later PiL recording, Levine would often forgo his guitar for synthesizer. He left PiL accrimoniously in 1983.

He has released several solo albums.
