Kenneth Kitchen - Definition and Overview

Kenneth Anderson Kitchen is Personal and Brunner Professor Emeritus of Egyptology and Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Archaeology, Classics and Oriental Studies, University of Liverpool, England. In his private life, he holds himself to be an Evangelical Christian.

He is most frequently cited by Creationists trying to denounce the theory of the Documentary Hypothesis, which claims that Genesis was written by more than a single author. This is due to his search for evidence to attack the hypothesis, during which he uncovered Egyptian tablets, giving a biographical account in 4 different writing styles, yet which many proclaim had one author (though it is not clear by what justification this proclamation is made).

Kitchen is one of the leading experts of chronology for the Egyptian Third Intermediate Period, and his book The Third Intermediate Period in Egypt (1100–650 BC) is the standard treatment on the subject (though it is now dated is some respects).
