Kenny Kramer is the model for character of Cosmo Kramer in the sitcom Seinfeld. Just as the character of Jerry Seinfeld lived across the hall from Cosmo Kramer in the television show, Seinfeld co-creator Larry David lived across the hall from Kenny for six years.
Careers
Prior to serving as the model for the Seinfeld character, Kenny had a long career as a stand-up comedian and was the manager of a British reggae band. During the disco years Kenny created an electronic jewelry item that sold so well that Kramer was able to live comfortably after disco died.
In 2001, Kramer ran to become the mayor of New York City, as a Libertarian candidate.
He appeared in the original New York company of the stage production Tony and Tina's Wedding, playing himself.
Kramer's Reality Tour
Tom's Restaurant from Seinfeld is a stop on Kramer's Reality Tour.
Kramer began a tour of New York City that features his favorite locations, including several landmarks from Seinfeld, such as Al's Soup Kitchen International (The Soup Nazi) and Tom's Restaurant (Monk's Cafe).
A DVD and home video of this so-called Kramer's Reality Tour is available from his website. Then-New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani congratulated Kenny and business partner Bobby Allen Brooks for creating the tour, citing it as "...a valuable entertainment and cultural venture." The Muffin Top episode of Seinfeld spoofed Kenny's tour; Cosmo Kramer started The Peterman's Reality Tour.
