- Alternate meaning: Kenny Rogers (baseball player)
Kenneth Donald Rogers (born August 21, 1938) Houston,TX is a prolific American country music singer and actor.
His carrer began in the mid-1950s when he recorded a number with a doo-wop group. Many years of slow selling records and playing clubs followed for Rogers, untill the formation of The First Edtion in 1967 (Later re-named "Kenny Rogers and The First Edition).
They chalked up a string of hit's on both the pop and country charts, including "Ruby, Don't Take You're Love To Town", "Reuben James" and "Just Dropped in (too see what condition my condition was in)".
The group split and Rogers lauched his solo carrer in 1976. Rogers continued to be successfull to both pop and country audiences, to date he has charted over 60 hit song's, including more than 20 number 1's, and more than 30 of his albums have made the top 50.
He collaborated with a developer of Kentucky Fried Chicken to start up the restaurant chain Kenny Rogers Roasters.
In 2000's he was still having #1 hit's with "The Greatest" and "Buy Me A Rose".
