Its name is often misspelled as "Kerr Magee" or "Kerr-Magee".
It was at a Kerr-McGee nuclear-fuel plant that Karen Silkwood contracted her radiation sickness.
Kerr-McGee has since 2001 received international critique for undertaking exploration of possible hydrocarbon resources offshore the Moroccan occupied area of Western Sahara. Shareholders have sold out of the company in protest.
