Kerrang! Kerrang!

Kerrang! - Definition and Overview

Kerrang! is a weekly music magazine published in the United Kingdom since June 1981. Initially devoted to the burgeoning New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene - albeit that its first cover band were AC/DC - and other hard rock acts, it has subsequently broadened its coverage to encompass a wide range of mainstream rock and metal acts (such as Ash, Green Day, The Darkness and surprisingly Bon Jovi, who have been treated with uncommon respect by the magazine).

It has also spun-off an analogue radio station, on 105.2 FM in the Birmingham area of England, a digital radio station and a digital TV channel. The TV station operated by EMAP runs a similar format to its peers - viewers can order tracks by phone to be added to the 'jukebox' and played in the order they were ordered. Its 'agenda' though is very different to the magazine in many people's opinions. The magazine often focuses on lesser-known alternative bands, but Kerrang! TV offers a much more mainstream look at alternative music.
