Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani - Definition and Overview

Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani was the ruler of Qatar from 1972 until he was deposed by his son, Hamad bin Khalifa, in a bloodless coup in 1995. He was more conservative than his son, but in general is thought to be the one who began the country's process of modernization.
