According to the International Electrotechnical Commission a kibibyte (a contraction of kilo binary byte) is a unit of information or computer storage. It is abbreviated KiB.
1 kibibyte = 210 bytes = 1 024 bytes
1 kibibyte = 8 kibibits
byte << kibibyte << mebibyte
The kibibyte is closely related to the kilobyte (kB), which is almost always used as a synonym for kibibyte, but can also refer to 103 bytes = 1 000 bytes in some contexts.
