Kinetic sculptures are sculptures that move, ideally with a minumum of applied force. Mobiles are a type of kinetic sculpture. Many others are wind-powered. Kinetic sculptures are often implemeted as installation art. By definition sound sculpture is kinetic sculpture.

Kinetic sculpture was pioneered by Alexander Calder (inventor of the mobile) and George Rickey. Other leading exponents include Yaacov Agam, Marcel Duchamp, Naum Gabo and Jean Tinguely.
